They are both the same type of Civic, just one is a hatch, the other is a saloon LOL.

You can get an insurance group 4 1.4 powered version, and compared to the insurance group 12, 2.0 Primera I have (gonna be costing 6k a year), it is going to be cheaper in the long run.

Now my question here is anybody had one, or know anybody who has? Any mechanical problems? Or is it a case of "its an old jap car so check for rust" ? - Prefably the saloon type I am after (I am probably one of the most die hard saloon people LOL) but the hatch don't look half bad either

So the plan is.

Meet at asda wolstanton at 910, leave at 930

Then convoy from asda wolstanton, to little chef end of a500/m6 not sure how long it’ll take to get to little chef, so lets say 20 mins,

Meet at littlechef/m6-a500 at 950 (so we can meet up with the Cheshire folk) and leave at 1030am,

Then convoy to Blackpool.

Have a few hours having fun, take plenty of pictures of cars and people etc etc.

Then when evening comes go in convoy up and down lights, oh then convoy home


We will be joined by some members from another local club, automotive connection, they are a great bunch and i'm sure it will be a brilliant day out.


Obviously the usual FCC convoy rules apply, no daft driving, no silly overtaking and go on a steady run to save petrol (plus not everyone has a fast car so don't want to lose the small engine cars),

Children are welcome but the parents/guardian must take responsibility for them

This is the biggest go karting track avalible and has 3 floors to race on,

the grand prix works out at £800 quid for the day, so if we can get 20 people (maximum allowed race) it will be £40 each

only people 18 or over are allowed to race though

this includes:-

• practive laps
• 4 races
• then top 10 race in final
• top 3 win prizes

this starts at around 11am,

so whos up for it? they need a 50% deposit so if we want to go we need to get something sorted and £20 per person (rest is payable on the day), this could be done as a meet, people can show up wheather they are racing or not, we still have a car park to admire cars, place to eat in there cafe and a place to have fun that is sort of to do with cars lol

so remeber even if you arent racing you can still come along.

This summer marked the 10th anniversary of the introduction of the new photo card licence and of the cards due for update a massive 28% are still outstanding, according to the DVLA. These drivers could face a £1,000 fine if asked to surrender the licence.

Though the expiry date is printed on the front of the photo cards, it can only be identified as such when the owner turns the card over and reads the small print.

Making matters more confusing is the presence on the back of the cards of a date until which time the motorists is registered to hold the licence - their 70th birthday.

According to the DVLA, reminders will now be sent to drivers with photo cards due to expire, while the Association of British Insurers has confirmed that insurance cover is unaffected by an expired photo card.

I just wanted to let you all know, we are going to be having a new addition to the Cheshire Area Reps. After her efforts for the Cheshire Meet held the sunday just gone, proved to work very well and we had a good turn out, I would like to welcome Cheeky Monkey aka Annie to the reps team. I think all those at the meet will agree with me in saying she did a good job. A good location was picked, back up locations were in mind if the weather turned bad, it was a good turn out and hopefully have gained some new members.

How the test is changing

Independent driving - For 10 minutes of the test you\'ll need to drive to a location using only diagrams and/or road signs without any directions from the examiner during the drive. The examiner will give you up to 4 directions while the car is stationary, for example they may say \"Drive to the first roundabout then take the 2nd exit straight ahead, then take the third road on the right, the 4th exit on the next roundabout and then the 2nd left turn.\"

Another way it will be done is a mixture of directions and instructions such as \"Take the 3rd left, 2nd right and then follow road signs to Kings Norton railway station\". For some of these directions you\'ll be given a diagram or map.

This part of the test will be very challenging for many pupils. Once you have started driving the examiner will not repeat directions so if you forget where you\'re going then you\'re in trouble. It also means you\'ll have to decide everything on your own such as where the turn is, which direction to follow at roundabouts, plan lanes and watch out for signs as you drive.

It was decided that the current test focuses too much on just car control and not other skills needed to drive such as map reading, navigation and reading the road. It\'s not yet clear how this will be marked but it\'s likely that going the wrong way will fail you.

Manouever changes - You will only do one manouever on a test instead of two. Current test routes are based on having to stick around quiet housing estates so there are enough opportunities to do manouevers. This will give you the chance to travel much further away from the centre so you may well drive in areas you have never seen before which will prove you are not just memorising test roads and routes.

Longer tests - It\'s likely to now be around 50 minutes in length. The DSA are in the process of designing routes and will decide over the coming months whether or not the test time needs to be extended. This will give examiners much more time to assess your ability and cover as many different junctions and situations as possible. Currently there just isn\'t time to test everything and you can pass a test having never even dealt with a crossroad, dual carriageway or high street.

Longer waiting times - If the test increases in length then there will be less tests done per day which could see the waiting times rise from the current 2 months up to 3 or 4 months per test. It will be more crucial than ever to make sure you are having high quality tuition to help avoid any possible chance of needing a retest.

Price increase - If the length of the test increases then there will be less tests done per day which means they will have to earn more per test to balance the books. The other option is to employ more examiners but this will increase their wage bill and also push prices up. The practical test is likely to cost around £75 to £100.

Driver attitude test - This is currently going through its second phase of testing and is very likely to be introduced. You\'ll be asked questions such as \"You smashed into a parked car while driving, should you report it or drive off?\" or \"Somebody cut you up while driving, should you let them go or teach them a lesson?\" with the idea being that this will stop people with bad attitudes from getting a licence.

Pass Plus overhaul - The Pass Plus scheme is years out of date and in it\'s current form it offers little to learners who have learnt with a good instructor. The scheme is being reviewed and is facing an overhaul which will see new elements added such as assessing a pupils attitude and developing skills in new areas.

Lower drink driving limit - The drink-drive limit may be lowered to 50mg per 100ml for experienced drivers and only 20mg per 100ml for new drivers. This means that drinking just half a pint of normal beer would most likely put you over the limit. It makes sense that if you plan on driving you just don\'t drink at all.

Observer driver - From April 5th 2010 you\'ll be asked if you want your instructor to go on the test and whether you want them present at the end of test debreif. It was going to be made compulsory for instructors to go on all tests with all pupils but after huge appeals against this it was overturned.

This is equivalent to just over 37 per cent of the total subject to testing and, according to the AA, the figure would have been higher but for the previous “cash for bangers” scheme which saw around 300,000 old cars taken off the road.

“It is clear the recession has been having an impact,” said John Ball, the Retail Motor Industry’s
MoT chairman. “People are running to a strict budget and getting pressures everywhere with the price of fuel rising as it has, you are having to absorb that extra cost

“It adds to the cost of running the car, you think where can you make economies, so drivers may ignore rattles when they shouldn’t. “People are not repairing their cars, they are skimping on servicing and trying to avoid getting an MoT test until they have to.

“If the MoT runs out in October and the car tax is not due until December, people were taking a chance and waiting to bring the car for an MoT.

“Key fail items were tyres, lights, brakes and suspension – which require attention irrespective of the reliability of the vehicle or an extended warranty,” said

“An MoT acts as a default and means you have to take a car to the garage, which means somebody has to look at it.”

Mike Penning, the road safety minister, appealed to drivers to look after their cars properly.

“Britain has some of the safest roads in the world but if we are to continue to improve this record then it is vital that drivers make sure their vehicles are properly maintained. I would urge all drivers to make sure that their vehicles are fit to be on the road.”

MODIFIED LIVE – End of Year Finale It looks like the scene finally concreted the ‘’season-closer’’ in the form of Modified Live. With timely good weather the Snetterton Circuit was awash with car clubs and visitors all keen to get a last dose of action before the winter set in with a vengeance. And action is exactly what they got with both the Need For Speed European Drift Championship and Time Attack series using the event to sort out who would be going home with top honours for the season. For drift fans the final event added an extra bonus with the layout giving visitors a great vantage point of the action, where they saw Mark Luney in the SVA Imports Nissan 350Z pip Driftworks dirver Phil Morrison to the crown. For those wanting to find out what it felt like to hit sideways transitions for themselves a fleet of drift taxis were on hand in the infield. With a host of top drivers and prepped drift cars the high speed taxi runs were a hit throughout the day and are sure to feature at Modified Live events in 2010. On the more grippy side of things the crowds got to witness almost 50 of the UK’s top tuned cars taking on the Snetterton Circuit in the Time Attack series. With everything from a BMW MINI and Fiat Coupe to a space-framed Ford Focus it was the Impreza of Zen Performance that won top honours for the day. But the on-lookers also got to see the Roger Clark Motorsport “Gobstopper” Impreza hit the track in anger, an iconic car that did enough on the day to retain the Time Attack Pro Class title. To keep the adrenaline pumping in between the EDC and Time Attack rounds Modified Live also threw the track open to demos from the BTRA. These massive power trucks don’t hold back and are more than capable of putting in some fine drifting displays themselves…so much so that Morrison in his Driftworks S15 was put up against one of them! The infamous Fireforce 3 jet-powered car also fired up along the Revett Straight, filling the air with the noise of 10,000bhp and probably waking up half of Norfolk. High speed passes weren’t all the track was good for though. Nissan turned up to support the event and held a spectacular parade lap full of Z-cars and GTRs to celebrate 40 years of the 240Z They also brought along some new GTRs for the visitors to get a good close-up look at along with a coupe and cabriolet version of the stunning new 370Z. Near to them were modified cars competing for the attention as they showed off in a bid to win the Serious Performance ‘”Best in Scene” accolade. With other categories too (that depart from the normal boring ones, such as “UK Here and Now” and “Best JDM”) the top gong eventually went to Jon Morley’s olive green VW Polo. With an immaculate interior and perfect stance it was a more than worthy victor, deservedly helping Jon take home not only the title but prizes from Serious Performance and Cosworth. At the other end of the show Max Power magazine took control of the Car Club area, DJ Richie Don pumping tunes out of the Maxxis tyres truck that was Max Power’s base for the day. Owners clubs and cruise sites came from across the country to fill the surrounding areas, showing off everything from extreme styling, highly chromed engine bays and in one case even a small Oak branch that stuck out of their bumper. In fact, judging by the turnout it appeared Modified Live came at a perfect time for enthusiasts, offering them another petrol-fuelled day out in a time of year traditionally ignored by car shows. So it’s good news that Modified Live will return to Snetterton at the same time next year, and the announcement that there will be two new Modified Live events for 2010 is sure to be popular. With five Modified Live events in total it’s a name set to dominate 2010 and give modified car lovers the injection of high speed thrills, tyre-smoking action and highly polished metal that they crave.

...............and failed on angel eyes and red rear indicators lol.
Having a big gob and being me i decided to argue.
"how can my rear indicators be illegal? one flashes amber one flashes red.so i have amber indicators and imports have red anyway"
having failed miserably there i proceeded to remove said red bulb and change to amber
"my angel eyes have passed every year except this one for 3 years? why now?"
after a very long and complex conversation where the guy couldnt tell me why my angel eyes were illegal "they just are" i threatened to have a chat with vosa and low and behold i was issued a pass certificate when it was discovered they are not illegal.They are white,conform to normal standards,so i dont understand the issue!

iv also had issues with my tinted back lights in the past too

anyone else had anything pass for years only then to fail?

mysteriously its also fitted with devil eyes....the indicator rings in the headlights....but they never question them

There have been a few people that have driven inappropiatly when in a convoy

so these are the rules

- No overtaking off any kind, weather it is safe or not
- Stay in the convoy in the position that you are in
- If you get lost from the convoy or get left behind, contact the person leading the convoy to ask them to pull over and wait for you

Driving like an idiot puts the whole club at risk, weather its givin the club a bad name, safety or gettin in trouble with the police, if the police pull one car and think its in a convoy with others the whole convoy will be penalised for it.

Any person even staff caught acting inappropiate when in a convoy will recieve a warning using the warning system on here, this can be given by a moderator or admin, after 3 warnings it is passed to a member of the admin team who decide weather to ban the person from the site or to suspend them.

Just want to say sorry in advance, as over the next few months as im sure you are all aware is very busy with festivals over the summer spread across the country. i may not be able to attend alot of the meets and i am doing the security for these festivals which of course are spread across the weekends and this will result in me not being able to attend
